Description

We are pleased to welcome Dr. Peter Antevy as our Keynote speaker. He is an internationally known pediatric emergency medicine speaker and EMS Medical Director. “Kids are not just little adults” is a phrase that has been engrained into the minds of every healthcare provider.  Generations of providers have perpetuated this gospel yet have found themselves feeling inadequate at the bedside even with decades of experience.  Dr. Antevy will describe how his journey as a PEM physician and EMS medical director has led him to challenge this hallowed dogma.  He may leave you convinced that it’s time to start treating kids like little adults.

Dr. Colleen Fitzpatrick, Trauma Medical Director and Surgeon in Chief will provide the group with poly trauma case examples and will bring all the speakers topics together from a multidisciplinary approach.

Jeana Nordike MSN, RN, CEN, CNE brings years of experience in both hospital and EMS settings. Be ready for a trip to the country with her rural trauma presentation. Remember most trauma happens nowhere near a trauma center.

Katie Smith, MEd, ATC, LAT manages the SportsCare program at Cardinal Glennon and has an incredible background in both education and in athletic training in college sports. She will give us need to know information from her perspective as a Licensed Athletic Trainer.

Phillipe Mercier MD, PhD as an Associate Professor of Neurosurgery at Cardinal Glennon, will bring an insightful presentation on pediatric traumatic brain injury. His passion for teaching is infectious and with this knowledge you will be better prepared to care for the most common cause of death in children.

Aki Puryear MD brings his experience in the military to the table as an Associate Professor of Orthopaedic Surgery at Cardinal Glennon. Blast injuries are becoming more frequent and have the capability of injuring large crowds. Dr. Puryear speaks about MCI and bleeding control in his fascinating presentation.
